Hi, my name is Felicity Wales, but that’s not who I am, it’s a name and a tribe that is mine. I am on the feminine-masculine spectrum like all the rest of you, but gender is no indicator of which end of the spectrum I’ll be on at any given time. It’s not who I am. My sexual orientation is just a label that I share on a need-to-know basis only. It too, is not who I am.
I’m a passionate creative, who feels most fired up when I’m creating something new or helping others to see what they can create. I bubble over with joy when I see their eyes light up as they suddenly realise there is a way forward that ignites passion and excites them. With a designer’s mind I am constantly thinking of new ideas, new business concepts, unique ways of combining talents to create new job roles for myself and others. I want to do everything at once and keep expanding, to keep moving forward. I’m a bull at a gate. Projects suit me because they have an end date, meaning I can keep moving onto something new. Each person I am privileged to help becomes a new project for me. I make it my mission to show them who they can become, knowing the best version of themself is in there somewhere, and just needs a helping hand to come out to help our collective expand.
At the same time, they inspire me to keep exploring what I am capable of, learning more, discovering new cultures, creeds and especially cuisines. That’s right, food is one of the things I am most passionate about. It is fuel for my body, mind, and spirit, so I invest in the best because everyone deserves to have the best quality fuel they can access. I know my body will heal itself if I put the good stuff in. When I first started working, my friends couldn’t understand how I went through money so fast. They didn’t know I would frequent expensive restaurants in my lunch hour, just to find the best food I could. I’ve toned it down since then, mostly because I’ve learned to make scrumptious meals in my own kitchen, but my retirement plan is to eat my way around the world.
The challenge to put sentences together to communicate how I feel, what I’m thinking about, my ideas and lessons learned, excites me no end. When I write something that I believe to be good, I feel euphoric and can’t wait to share it. I even write and produce my own songs to communicate my messages to the world. Currently I get paid to write and deliver training for a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) based in Sydney. I have delivered training face-to-face for this RTO in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sydney since 2018, and online to people all over Australia, since 2020. I deliver training in Cyber Security, Business and Careers Development, and write content and develop courses for exciting new products all the time.
In my previous experience I have delivered training in Africa, Thailand, Papua New Guinea and Australia in various industries, but mostly on how to use technology and run business. My love for organising data and databases, inspired me to complete my bachelor’s degree in Information Technology in 2020. I also hold a diploma in Technology, and certificates in WHS, Bookkeeping, Small Business Management, Interior Design and English as a Second Language. So why did I study Disaster Relief Management with the Harvard Institute? Because not only am I obsessed with organising and designing efficient small spaces such as campervans, tiny homes and disaster relief pods, but I am also hooked on survivalism. The prepper lifestyle has been around for centuries, and yet people often judge those who believe in self-sufficiency and being prepared to withstand the next nuclear disaster, as a little left-of-centre. But for me it’s empowering, and a relief that since the Covid Crisis, more and more people are starting to believe in its merits.
As a grandmother and mother, with a home-base close to my children, I like projects that allow me to satisfy my nomadic genes and allow me to come back to reconnect to my loved ones. With the unpredictability of visa requirements my desire to travel overseas has faded a little, but I still look forward to more. As I look back at how I managed an ice cream factory in Papua New Guinea, a hotel and restaurant in Port Douglas, assisted in a café in Inverell, set up administration offices at a school in East Africa, and even taught English in Thailand, I console myself with the fact that I have lived many chapters, lessons, and lives that others have not had opportunity to. At one point I even lived full-time in my campervan, travelling, and exploring Australia. It was a season for a very important reason; to connect with myself.
To keep my mind and body in balance, connected to source, and realign with the daily flow of what is best for me, I practice meditation, yoga, sound therapy, breathwork and connection. This is the best medicine on earth, to stay connected to the source of all creative energy. To remind myself I am part of a universal collective consciousness that wants to keep learning, exploring, expanding. That each of us is a part of that, and each of us has something that no-one else can contribute. Each one of us is unique and truly valuable with a small window of opportunity to make a difference.
To connect I also swim in the surf and enjoy walks in nature. I am drawn to animals, birds, oceans and trees, so I volunteer to house-sit to be with animals I adore, including boisterous dogs who can't wait to take me through the local forests and beaches. They too are unique, each one with their own adorable personality. They too are eager to contribute.
I believe each of us can contribute and do anything we have a passion to do if we truly want to focus our energy on it every day. If we can look at our so-called past mistakes to find what we can learn from them, then we can reprogram old patterns and find a better way. We can use these lessons to understand what we don’t want our lives to look like, and instead visualise and speak into being, what we do want it to. We have all the connection tools we need, to stay in the creative space of 'the now'. All it takes is just one small conscious step every day and the Universe will take us there. We'll be in a constant state of bliss, and no matter what comes, we will love that we live.
